The frequent use of displays as an open access to the rest of the world and the ongoing development of new technologies is changing our perception of the environment. Virtual reality, data storage and scientific findings in physiognomy serve as a model for the picture series "Uncanny Valley". Digital Collages display the blurred boundaries between the real and the digital world and abstract schematic representations.
The term "Uncanny Valley“ originates in Japanese Robotics: it describes the acceptance of artificial figures presented to the observer. Paradoxically, artificial figures which only indicate human characteristics are preferred to true simulations.
My attention is focused on the phenomenon of applying human characteristics to artificial figures as well as to the tension between abstract and figurative representation that derives from this intuition.
